Summer 2007 was a tough time for Sydney Buses. A fault was found with the O405NHs - the gas tanks on the roof were made of steel, other operators chose a lighter option, but Sydney went for steel for increased safety. The extra weight caused problems with the front axle. The entire fleet was taken off the road and ultimately modification were undertaken. Here large numbers of O405NHs are laid up at Bondi Junction depot over Christmas. Luckily reduced commitments over the school holidays eased the vehicle shortage, but spare buses were drafted in from Newcastle and withdrawn vehicles reinstated.
