On the last day of operation of route 8 by Stagecoach Routemasters, First
chipped in with RM1650, which it had recently painted into the livery worn by
the 25 Silver Jubilee Routemasters back in 1977: RM1650 (650DYE). The bus also
had the distinction of wearing the gold livery for the Golden Jubilee in 2002.

The trend for individual route marketing is clearly shown on this RML on the 23.
The opportunity for more prominent First branding has also been taken.
A few years later and despite widespread route branding outside London, all you get is a route number,
final destination and a red bus. |

RM871 (WLT871) and RML2352 (CUV352C) pass each other in Oxford Street on First's
Routemaster routes 7 and 23.
