Megabus started overnight sleeper coaches between London and Scotland with the remnants of its fleet of articulated coaches. At one time it was thought that articulated coaches would be a way forward till government regulations banned them from the outside lanes of motorways. Stagecoach's artics found some niche uses until they found a home on the gentle overnight services. The route was a success and the elderly artics have been replaced with a purpose built fleet of Van Hool TX17 Astromegas. The first, 50381 (SF13FMC), was seen in Victoria on test in May 2013. The coaches sleep 42 but can be rapidly converted to 55 seaters. During the day time they perform enhanced service runs on less distant services from Victoria to cities like Bristol, returning in time for the overnight journey north of the border.

The Astromega is seen alongside yet another Megabus innovation, a Volvo B11RT with the purpose built 75 seat hi-deck Plaxton Elite-i body, 54210 (SF62CZN) delivered in December 2012.
