One of Blackpool's banana boat trams was exported to San Francisco to join the local MUNI fleet of historic tramcars from around the world. It is seen in 1986 laid up on a reserved section of track. |
By 2002 the tram tracks had been extended along the San Francisco sea front to Fishermans Wharf. The tourist route between the Wharf and Castro was operated by the fleet of preserved trams, mainly comprising several recent units acquired from Milan and Muni's own old PCC cars repainted in liveries of several American cities. Blackpool's car made the odd guest appearance. It is seen here at the Port of San Francisco. |
