At the end of 2001 Eastbourne and Reading agreed to swap buses. The former required more singldeckers and the latter doubles. So several Eastbourne Spectras joined the native Spectra fleet in Reading, whilst Reading Optare Excels - new to Cardiff Buses - headed south to the seaside. Here former Eastbourne 76 (S876BYJ) is seen on hire to Carousel buses at High Wycombe Rail Station. Wycombe had a long period rail disruption after a new Tesco store under construction at Gerrards Cross collapsed on to the main line to Marylebone. Buses were used to ferry Wycombe travellers to Amersham to join Chiltern Trains' alternative Aylesbury line to Marylebone. |
