Transdev Melbourne Scania K360UA Gemilang 118
Last week we saw the latest Transperth articulated buses entering service in Western Australia. At the end of last year Ventura also took delivery of just one Volvo B8RLEA models for its Mornington Peninsula services also with the latest Volgren Optimus bodywork, perhaps if it had retained the tendered city services that is what this bus would have been, but new contractor Transdev bought a pair of these Gemilang bodied Scania K360UA to join the pair Custom bodied K310UA buses in its inherited fleet. This is 118 (BS00TB) seen on Hoddle Street returning empty to Doncaster depot with a rigid doing likewise behind after Monday's morning rush hour. The Custom buses are in Smartbus for the busy routes from the Doncaster area, oddly these Gemilang buses are in standard livery. Transdev have just opened three new depots in the city which may have triggered the allocation of Smartbus branded buses to non-Smartbus routes, which has been occuring more obviouly across the network of late. Conversely the latest delivery of Volgren Optimus bodied Scanias, (380121-380127), have seen regular use on Smartbus routes, but, like 118, they are in standard PTV livery. The writing could be on the wall for the silver coloured Smartbus fleet.
