SHOWBUS50 is taking place at the
Hertfordshire County Showground on Sunday September 25th
Our first event was in January 1973 at Brunel University in Uxbridge so 2022 sees our 50th display.
We are still having a double celebration with the SHOWBUSflyby along the A40 from Brunel University to High Wycombe now postponed till Summer 2023 as it would have been in the period of national mourning.
On September 25th 2022 the usual annual display will be at the Hertfordshire County Showground by Junction 9 of the M1.
The Herts Showbus venue is only 15 minutes from ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, which nestles in the beautiful Dunstable Downs. Every 30 minutes or more, a free bus will shuttle between Showbus and the Zoo, most of these will be on board an electric UNO doubledecker. We are delighted to announce that Neighbours icon, Alan Fletcher, better known to many as Dr Karl Kennedy, will be joining us to present the prizes on the 25th. He will be in the UK touring with his show "The Doctor Will See You Now". The show was intended to tour in 2020 as a tribute to Neighbours 35 years and Alan's 25 years as DrK. Poignantly, two years on, it celebrates the passing of the show. The dates and venues of the tour are listed on his website

Beside the Zoo shuttle Red Rose and Arriva will be supporting us with special bus services from both St Albans (Red Rose) and Luton & Dunstable (Arriva). Red Rose will also run a shuttle from Hemel Hempstead to SHOWBUS with some journeys connecting with Carousel 1A from High Wycombe, Amersham & Chesham but most will connect with Red Rose 501 from Aylesbury, Tring and Berkhamstead plus from Watford Junction Station and Kings Langley. There is also the opportunity to travel to the Verulanium Roman Museum on the Red Rose St Albans service and to zip along the busway on the Arriva service.
The site is amazingly well drained, thanks to the French drainage system installed, and criss-crossed by lots of paved roadways. Despite the very wet conditions prior to the 2019 event there were no ground problems. The SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE large marquee will house many of the stalls on site.
Not only is it our 50th, but NATIONAL EXPRESS is celebrating their 50th birthday with us, with a special display of new and former NATIONAL EXPRESS coaches.
Brand new London Country Leyland National LN15 (NPD115L) was at the January 1973 event, so we are also celebrating 50 years of the Leyland National.
Showbus has celebrated Her Majesty's Silver, Gold and Diamond Jubilees so of course we are celebrating her Platinum Jubilee with a planned display across the site with one bus from each year of her reign.
Finally we are hoping many buses which joined us in the early days of SHOWBUS at the Hillingon Show will be able to join us if they are still on the road.

Adult £ 15 Child (under 16) £5 Child (under 5) Free
Family ticket £ 30 two adults and up to three children.
Concessionary admission £ 10 - simply show your National Bus Pass.
The 50th anniversary SHOWBUS brochure, covering both events, will be on sale at the SHOWBUSflyby and at SHOWBUS50 for £5 - if bought with a ticket at the SHOWBUS50 gate the brochure is only £3.50

There will be no advance purchase tickets this year.
