Red Rover's first rear engined doubledecker was former Nottingham 435 (DAU435C). The company had earlier bought new AEC Swifts. The bus was purchased with the intention of replacing an AEC Renown on the morning run into Aylesbury feom Buckingham and remove the need for a conductor, similarly on the busy 1640h return to Buckingham. Sadly compared to the Renowns the one-man-bus was not reliable, earning the nickname "The Wonderbus" as it was a wonder it ever went! When the DMS arrived reliable one man operation started, though to maintain time keeping Mrs Foot boarded at Oving, Aylesbury bound to conduct the bus into town and then it dodged round to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for the very busy 0833h "LINKLINE" 9 via Walton Court to town. This improved time keeping and offered an extra friendly service to pasengers. It also thwarted the competition from United Counties and Oxford South Midland. The bus, to be numbered 135, is seen newly arrived in the Red Rover yard.

The bus was eventually repainted into "rhubarb & custard" matching the Renowns' initial livery. As it waa operating route 2 in competition with United Counties green 355 buaes to Buckingham large RED ROVER fleetnames were fixed to the front until sunset red and highway yellow took over.

Aylesbury Bus Station is notorious for its black hole environment. Here 135 is readying for its afternoon run to Buckingham still wearing Nottingham adverts and bearing the city crest.
