One of the most unusual sites is at Lewknor, just below the M40. Often two of the Tube's striking doubledeckers can be seen briefly nestling under the motorway. Cars were scattered in lay bys and even on the path under the bridge. This is a Park & Ride of an unusual nature! Parking has since been improved, but it is not on the scale of a more normal Park & Ride site - yet.

Tube 55 (T55UBE) boasts a personal registration. It is seen here at Showbus 1999 alongside Paul S Winson's award winning Skyliner. Tube 55 is one of the batch of Jonckheere bodied MANs to boast wheelchair provision.

There was some delay between the official launch and the new doubledeck Tube coaches entering service. This one is seen flashing down the M40 near High Wycombe just as services got under way.

With the service in full swing the red giants were a familiar site on the M40 even in the December 1999 snows.

Tube 48 arrives at Gloucester Green, Oxford, where the red giants gather - typically half a dozen can
be seen at any one time!
