|Eastrans was a Kefford Corporation fleet. Kefford also owned Melbourne based Westrans, Benders in Geelong and Davis' in Ballarat. In February 2009 Singapore based Comfort Delgro Cabcharge acquired the group, which sits alongside their Sydney acquisition of the Westbus group from National Express. To date they have reatined the individual Kefford Group liveries and not donned the sunshine yellow which adorns the Sydney operations and dates from Westbus days. Ironically the same yellow is disappearing from the Melbourne National Bus Company operation, giving way to Ventura blues. Dating from Kefford days and seen in Flinders Street in the morning rush hour is Scania/Volgren 104 (4353AO).
Fleetnumber 100 (4944AO) in the Eastrans fleet is this Volvo B10BLE with the same style Volgren CR221L body as on the Scania above. The Volvo was delivered in 2000, a year before the Scania, it is also seen in Flinders Street. Notice the over window advertising board which chooses to mask the windows rather than pierce the sky line.
Advertising of a different sort adorns the nearside of 100, with two over window panels.
Melbourne's new Federation Square nears completion behind this view of Volvo B10BLE 97 (4864AO).
|Eastrans 107 (3189AO) is seen some eight years later in April 2010 in the same location but with Melbourne Cathedral as the backdrop.
