San Francisco MUNI Neoplan AN440 8343
Rail replacement of a different sort in August 2008 when 8343 is substituting for the downtown cable car following cable failure. In consequence the service was being largely shunned by the usual throng of tourists.

San Francisco MUNI Neoplan AN440 8356
Rail substitution of sorts. Neoplan 8356, freshly painted in the new silver/red livery in August 2004 - which 8343 above had yet to receive four years on - is in the Transbay Terminal heading for Treasure Island. The Transbay terminal closed in 2010 but had opened in 1941 as the terminus for trains crossing the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge, a service which ceased two years later. So the 108, which goes to the Treasure Island mid point of the bridge is a kind of rail replacement service 63 years on!
