Contrasting with the relentless advance of Barbie livery, Basildon town service 8 sported these
blue and yellow colours back in April 2002. Unusually, perhaps, for a high profile service,
non low floor Darts were used like this Plaxton Pointer bodied one, originally Thamesway 924
(M924TEV).

Here 924 and 925 are seen leaving Basildon Bus Station and heading for opposite ends of route 8.

Another non standard livery, at least for Essex Buses, is this Optare Solo. The bus is one
of a batch for London tendered service 193 in Romford and is seen when new at the 2002
Southend Rally. The service was operated by Firs Essex Buses until transferred to First London,
with the Solos in late 2004. New as Essex 510 (EO02FLK) the bus is one of the shorter 8.5 metre
26 seat models.
