Alder Valley had severe vehicle shortages throughout its NBC days. Extended Lodekka - look at the rear most windows - ex Eastern National 2928 (AVW397F), is seen still in NBC leaf green in Newbury Bus Station. The bus ended its days as an open topper in Hong Kong. |

Eastern National has had a long coaching tradition and in NBC days coaches were used on the National Holidays programme. An unusual purchase was a batch of four of the rare MCW Metroliners only built in the mid eighties. Seen at the NEC in 1984 is 1603 (B460WHJ) a type CR126/9 with, of course, MCW 51 seat coachwork.

Another long tradition of Eastern National has been doubledeck coaches. This long wheel base Olympian has the rather utilitarian style of ECW coach bodywork, later models were more attractive. The London Express livery was short lived, but the coaches used on commuter routes doubled on London tour work during the day.
