Parked outside the old Streatham Bus Grage, northern terminus of the 60, this shot shows the

The first route taken on was the southern London orbital 726 Green Line route,
marketed as Red Express. The route had been under threat of withdrawal by London
Transport, was reprieved. Previously operated by London Coaches, with an unusual fleet of Ikarus
bodied DAFs, Capital took on the vehicles, but was planning to upgrade the fleet.

A fleet of Optare Excels was purchased for the first local bus service acquired, the U3, but this vehicle
is seen on an early Saturday morning 726 run departing Heathrow. |
 |
R991EWU is rightfully seen on the U3, as the sign writing proclaims, in addition to the normal
accessability features of the Optare Excel, the bus includes air conditioning and double glazing (and
very well paid drivers).
