Long associated with the traditional Southdown fleet has been the class of vehicles known as the
Queen Mary Titans. These Leyland PD3s were unusual in having full front bodywork on a normally
half-cab chassis. The bodies were all built by Northern Counties. The buses lasted in service for a
long time and many found further use in the UK and abroad, notably Hong Kong. There were 30
convertible open toppers amongst them and in 1966, 410 (410DCD) is captured here in Brighton on a
late dash out to Devil's Dyke, hopefully to return the last of the Day Trippers.
