Devon General 571 (MOD571P) joined the Provincial fleet as an open topper and is seen
here at the 2001 Southsea Rally.

New as Western National 95 in the Devon General fleet is this Bristol LHS on a
special route - and in a special livery - serving Alum Chine for Southern Vactis
on the Isle of Wight.

Devon General was one of the first NBC companies to be privatised. Under Harry
Blundred it had also been a pioneer of high frequency minibus operation using
the Ford Transit. 519 (C519FFJ) has conversion bodywork by Carlyle Works, the
former Midmand Red plant in Birmingham and is seen on display at the Cardiff
Centenary Rally in 2003 in the capital city.

Identical 526 (C526FFJ) appeared later in the year at EFE SHOWBUS International.
Both buses sport the "Bayside" name in lieu of Devon General. This was one of several
identities and liveries deployed on DG's new minibus services. Both vehicles have
body frames made by Dormobile.

Eventually Harry Blundred disposed of
his various bus interests around the world to Stagecoach and for some time
Stagecoach Devon retained the distinctive route liveries favoured by Transit Holdings
for city routes in Exeter. This Mellor bodied Iveco had not succombed to Stagecoach
stripes in October 1997.
