It is especially nice that Roger and Sue Wortley have preserved this example from the small Welsh independent fleet of Jones of Aberbeeg. The vehicle is a 1958 Leyland Tiger Cub with Weymann bodywork, a type that was widespread in BET fleets at the time. Whilst South Wales and Western Welsh would have had similar buses, they would not have appeared in this refreshing livery. The photo was taken at Southsea and 98 (889AAX) now lives with Roger and Sue on the south coast. |

98 is seen here being admired at EFE SHOWBUS International 2001 when it won the prize for the most improved vehicle on display. |

98 lined up with other Welsh buses at the 2002 SHOWBUS event. Jones of Aberbeeg was taken over by Red & White Services at around the time of the formation of the National Bus Company. The fleet received new Leyland Nationals which had the distinction of being painted in blue and white, complete with appropriate NBC logos, and in complete contrast to the poppy red and leaf green being received by most other Natuonals at the time. Sadly the distinction did not last long and Jones became submerged in Red & White - in more ways than one! |

The blue and cream colours of Jones of Aberbeeg compliment our AEC Reliance to good effect. Jones were one of the largest of the Welsh independents and their vehicles could be seen in these colours long after moving into N.B.C.'s control. Registered 627 EWO, this ex Red and White vehicle is operating route to Brynithel. |

After the success of our first model we were encouraged to continue to build the Jones of Aberbeeg fleet, our second model is the Bristol LS. Registration number MAX 120, fleet number 27, is seen working route 27 to Ebbw Vale Via Pontypool. MARCH 2004 RELEASE |
