Red & White Freight Rover Sherpa Minibus
In the heyday of the National Bus Company Red & White died. It was merged with Western Welsh and disappeared into the National Welsh Omnibus Company. Prior to privatisation it re-emerged as Red & White and was subsequently purchased by Western Travel, the group which was based on the Gloucestershire operations of Bristol Omnibus Company. Ultimately the whole lot passed to Stagecoach. This picture in Merthyr Bus Station dates from a time around privatisation when there was fierce competition amongst companies in the Valleys. This non standard Freight Rover Sherpa minibus had orginated with Midland Red South as their 472 (D472CKV), it reatined the designateion wih Red & White and was serving alongside a fleet of Alexander bodied Dodges in full Red & White livery acquired from Northern General.

On the right is the rear of former Red & White 324 (K324YKG), a Wright bodied Mercedes 811D new in 1992. The identity of the other Mercedes is disguised by its cherished registration, OUI8360.

Burton Coaches ex Red & White Tiger Paramount
The registration XSU913 has been assigned to a former Red & White Leyland Tiger with Plaxton Paramount 3200 Express coachwork in the MK Metro. It had arrived from Burtons of Haverhill, an associated operation, and is seen in the Winterhill depot yard in Milton Keynes still in their livery. At the time (April 2002) it was the only coach in the MK Metro fleet. The sign in the window betrays its use on rail replacement services, doubtless it had been used alongside the ex Bedwas lowbridge Titan PD3/Massey of MK, PAX466F, which was known to see regular use on rail work.
