South Yorkshire PTE Volvo Ailsa Van Hool McArdle
The rear view of the Van Hool McArdle body is tidy but not as original as the front.

South Yorkshire PTE Leyland Atlantean Park Royal 717 & Volvo Ailsa VHMA 416
Being passed by Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlantean 717 (YWA117G) in the centre of Sheffield is Ailsa 416 (NAK416R). Two, 377 and 388, of the Ailsas were in preservation in 2022 along with an example from A1.

South Yorkshire PTE Daimler Fleetline Park Royal 967
Somewhat crudely South Yorkshire PTE tried to stamp out the livery of its predecessors so this Park Royal bodied Daimler Fleetline - thought to be 967 (AWB967B) - has had its fleetnames removed and blue band repainted cream that does not quite match the base livery. It is void of any identity, anonymous and unloved!.

South Yorkshire PTE Leyland Atlantean PRV 192, Alexander 294, Fleetline Alexander, Atlantean Roe, Fleetline ECW & Atlantean PRV
Another unloved bus heads this depot line up, 192 (JWJ192D), another Park Toyal bodied bus, but this time on a Leyland Atlantean chassis. The rest of the line up have been deemed worthy of South Yorkshire PTE livery. Next up is Alexander bodied Atlantean AN68 294 (UWA294L) with an Alexander bodied Daimler Fleetline alongside, probably 247 (NWA257K). Beyond - unidentified - are a Roe bodied Atlantean, an ECW bodied Fleetline and an older Park Royal bodied Atlantean.

South Yorkshire PTE Daimler Fleetlines ECW 791 & Park Royal 676
In this view in Sheffield Bus Station Park Royal bodied Daimler Fleetline 676 (DWB676H) has been allowed to retain its Sheffield blue bands. It is being overtaken by newer ECW bodied Fleetline 791 (CWE791N). The ECW Fleetlines were also a quirky purchase, like the Ailsas. Aside from the PTE only Colchester received the same style of body, but on Atlantean chassis. Before certification they had to have small windows cut into the first pillars either side of the bodywork to improve visibilty from the driver's seat.
