Bedford OB/Duple
Bedford OBs are always a delight at any rally and draw the crowds. Tim Wootton's Royal Blue 1411 (LTA750) has been to Showbus before, but alongside was Stuart Jones' pride and joy, recently acquired MYB33 which used to be in the Safeway fleet many years ago. Stuart is editor of Bus and Coach Buyer, who supply the excellent annual Showbus programme and he has included an account of his exploits in getting the OB to Showbus in the post rally edition which reviews the Duxford gathering.

Harrington coaches
No less than three Harrington bodied coaches lined up in front of the American Air Museum. Nearest the camera is the Leyland Tiger Cub, MMR853, which used to be in the fleet of Silver Star Motor Services of Porton Down, the coach won the Doyen Singledeck prize. Alongside are a pair of AEC Reliances, Valliant's red and grey on AMX8A matching the livery of the Silver Star, and beyond 477AOP in Flights' livery.

Leyland Tiger PS1 Duple
This entrant arrived unannounced. It is a Leyland Tiger PS1 with Duple body new as Sutherland, Peterhead, 117 (EAV458). It presumably passed at some stage to Falcon and was to be seen last year in a dark green and cream livery bearing that fleetname. Unfortunately it got lost amidst the Bristol display!

Essex County Coaches AEC Reliance/Roe & Guernsey Motors Albion Victor
Viewed from Rally Control are two fascinating vehicles, George Atkin's 1958 AEC Reliance with rare Roe centre entrance coachwork in the colours of Essex County Coaches, RSL383. Alongside is Martin Willetts' Guernsey Motors Albion Victor FT39AN, 77, with Reading full front body and only 35 seats in the short and narrow body to the maximum dimensions permitted on the island when it was built fifty years ago.

The Connections Bus
When new in Kentish Bus cream and maroon livery, this Northern Counties Olympian brought a new shape and new colours to the streets of London. Not exactly preserved, but certainly still capable of bringing new colour to London is "The Connections Bus". However the bus has been converted to a drop-in youth club for young people from secondary school age upwards, operating in villages around Cambridge. Check out their website and see the history of the various buses used on this project.
