 Southampton was an early pioneer of gas powered buses, but on a Saturday most of the fleet, clearly deployed on University services, were to be found resting at Portswood depot. The silver Plaxton Pointer bodied Dart is thought to have been transferred from Bristol. The older vehicles have Marshall bodies. |
Southampton 2337 (N166GOT) is a later gas powered Plaxton bodied Dart alongside one of the "uni-link" Marshall batch.

Dart 2334 (N163GOT) was in service on Saturday and purred along in the rain on route 20 on its gas power.

Southampton 208 was an early standard Dart purchased by the former city fleet in the pre-SLF days.
