For many years, pride of the M&D fleet was LC1 (NKN650) - the Knightrider - seen here on the 1978 Showbus Road Run at Langley. Maidstone & District's Head Office was in Knightrider Street in Maidstone.

Built in 1951 this luxury 16 seater was finished in a livery of midnight blue. It was in company with a former fellow fleet member, a Willowbrook bodied Reliance of 1963, at the Showground.

Coachwork was, of course, by Brighton based Harrington but the chassis was an unusual Commer Avenger powered by a petrol engine.
