Stagecoach Bristol Lodekka
Preserved at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lothalmond is this former Central SMT, extra long Bristol FLF Lodekka, once BE335 in the fleet. It passed into Stagecoach ownership in that group's early days and in whose livery it is seen. Photo by the Reid family

Central Bedford SB / Duple Vega A small fleet of coaches was maintained by Central and back in the sixties, Bedford SB/Duple Vegas were the choice. This was one of five photographed at a jaunty angle to emphasis the 'Ford Anglia' styling towards the rear.

Central SMT Y-type The ubiquitous Y-type body of Alexander's Falkirk works was commonplace initially on Leopard and later on Tiger chassis in the Central SMT fleet. This picture, taken by Joyce Isles from a hotel window in Glasgow shows a Leopard with the then new 'Central Scottish' saltaire blue fleetname.

Central SMT Bristol VRT
From the outset the Scottish Bus Group did not get on well with its first fleet of Bristol VRs. Though Central had one of the two prototype VRL models with the uncommon longitudinal engine, its batch of early production types had the standard transverse engine. In company with models for United and Western SMT the batch spent several weeks back at Bristol Commercial Vehicles prior to delivery. BN358 (NGM158G) is seen out at Brislington on a test run back in 1968. Its life with Central was cut short when the vehicles were swapped with Bristol Lodekkas from National Bus Company fleets and BN358 became Alder Valley 881.
