First Leicester Dennis Falcon Northern Counties 625 - L625XFP
Leicester left municipal ownership for the care of Grampian Holdings (GRT) which was the fledging First Group. Leicester City Transport stayed loyal to the Dennis brand, having pioneered operation of the Dominator, and purchased some of the few Dennis Falcon rear engines buses, including Northern Counties Paladin bodied 625 (L625XFP) seen here in Leicester colours returning to Abbey Park depot.

First Leicester Mercedes O405/Optare
When Leicester Citybus was acquired by GRT Holdings it briefly benefited from their taste in high specification buses, like this Optare Prisma bodied Mercedes O405 with double glazing and air conditioning. The livery is based on Grampian's "Advance" scheme.

Dominator 77 (A77FRY) is in Grampian livery of a different style. The East Lancs bodied Dennis shows off the livery then shared with First Northampton.

First Leicester Volvo B6 Alexander Dash 421 - N345CJA
First Leicester 421 (N345CJA) was one of a number of Volvo B6 buses gathered in the First Leicester fleet. Its livery was not out of place, still in First Eastern Counties colours, which was another GRT fleet and adopted a similar scheme to Grampian, and more particularly Leicester and Northampton. With the variety of schemes in Leicester at the time probably anything would be in keeping! The bodywork is the Alexander Dash.
