Yarra Trams Combino 3512
The calendar is about to change from 2012 to 2013, the crowds are flocking into the city for the New Year celebrations and Princes Bridge has been closed to traffic. A temporary pen for trams coming up St Kilda Road has been erected in the Arts Precinct so that they can switch tracks and head back to the south east. Combino 3512 blocks two Z class trams as all three wait to change line. Z3 197 is the car behind 3512.

A couple of days later 3532 was seen in Toorak covered in graffiti. Who an earth was responsible for allowing it out in service in this state should have been severely reprimanded. It was a Sunday and, unless all the spare trams in Malvern depot had been similarly attacked, there was no excuse for giving the perpatrator the pleasure of seeing his vandalism on public view across the streets of the city.

Easter is a popular time for maintenace on tracks, especially on St Kilda Road. Buses replace trams bridging the section under repair and trams have to switch tracks to go back the way they came so the old Z car waits while Combino 3519 changes line.

Here temporary rails provide a means of switching tracks where no points are available on the permanent way. Car Z3 178 waits its turn while Combino 3526 uses the points.
