The bus side of the Harris Coach company expanded considerably with a distinctive livery and a fleet of modern vehicles on London Transport services, however in 2000, the company faced financial problems and London Transport ended up taking the routes over, trading as East Thames Buses.

Harris' modern fleet members - like this Pyoneer Olympian - were frequently seen rubbing shoulders with Stagecoach's ageing Leyland Titan fleet. This view is in Ilford on New Year's Eve 1997.
