Brighton Hove & District Lodekka XPN46 Then it was back to the rear loaders with Bristol FS6B 46 (XPN46) delivered after the 3 batches of FSFs delivered in 1961.

Brighton Hove & District Lodekka APN54B
A busy Summer day and newly delivered 54 (APN54B) - a convertible open topper - joins battle with the traffic by the Main Pier. It and sister 53 were delivered in bus livery, rather than the cream and black open top colours, perhaps to make passengers in the winter feel warmer?

Brighton Hove & District Lodekka DAP62C
Another highbridge FS, this time 62 (DAP62C) with a non removable top! It heads towards Hove, in something of a hurry.

Brighton Hove & District Lodekkas JPM81D & JPM82D Eventually Brighton & Hove 'joined the crowd' and started to take delivery of foward entrance, normal length Lodekkas, incuding these two 81 and 82 (JPM81-2D) newly delivered to Brighton depot - 81 still sporting its trade plates from the delivery run.

Pool Valley
This colourful scene at Pool Valley captures all three common Brighton liveries of the time: Southdown's apple green and cream, Brighton, Hove & District's Tilling Red and cream with Brighton's French blue and white.
