The first of Southampton's expected fleet of 18 Wright Fusion articulated Volvo B7LAs was displayed
to much acclaim at the Royal Victoria Bus Rally in July 2000. As the scrolling destination indicates,
the fleet of vehicles will cost around £3.5m.

The bus, as yet unnumbered and unregistered took enthusiastic passengers for a brief trip round the
rally field.

As this view shows, the styling of the Wright Fusion bodies is as impressive from the rear as the

In contrast, preserved Southampton City 350 (370FCR) was also on display at the Royal Victoria event.
The Neepsend bodied AEC Regent V seated 66 - just a few more than the Fusion. Neepsend were an
associate of East Lancs, who subsequently bodied Southamton's Atlantean fleet.
