Geoffrey Hilditch, General Manager at Halifax was heavily involved in the development of the Dennis Dominator, the chassis that lead to Dennis' re-entry into the British Bus Market. Whilst the chassis enjoyed favour with some operators, noticeably South Yorks, it did not enjoy the success of the Dart model. Before any could enter service in Halifax, Mr Hilditch moved to Leicester and his Dominator came with him. Most had East Lancs bodywork as this photo of 237 (UFP237S) shows.

A second photo of 237 was taken at SHOWBUS 78. The one above is on the road run from Windsor at Langley and this at the Hillingdon Showground. |

East Lancs bodied the vast majority of Dominators. This one is a little unusual, 231 (UFP231S), is a Marshall bodied example - doubledeck bodies being unfamiliar projects for Marshall.

237 (UFP237S) is seen again on the road run to Showbus 78 at Langley.

Marshall bodied 231 (UFP231S) was not far behind.
