Red Rover FAU723L
Red Rover's fourth National 138 (FAU723L) is seen at SHOWBUS 79, the last Hillingdon SHOWBUS. It was the first vehicle to wear the Red Rover version of the Nottingham livery, the three earlier vehicles simply having their green stripes painted red and RED ROVER replace City of Nottingham as a fleetname. All four were soon painted to match 138.                                                             Photo courtesy of Red Rover

Red Rover DAU369C Red Rover 123 is seen here in the Nottingham inspired stripey livery, arriving at Woburn Abbey to take up duties on the Showbus Junglebus trips to the Safari Park.

Red Rover DAU369C
One of 5 ex Nottingham Renowns in the old Red Rover fleet. 123 (DAU369C) is seen at the terminus of route 15 - Calvert - where it is performing a reverse by one of the few 15 mph speed limit signs in the country. Route 15 has now been subsumed into route 17. The batch of Renowns consisted of 123-125 (DAU369/72/83C), 127/8 (DAU358/2C). 124 was eventually sold to Esso and later was seen as a mobile home, 125 met with a nasty accident with a low bridge near Thorpe Park so was withdrawn from Red Rover service and 128 - which entered service in Nottingham livery - only lasted a few months before being sold to Maybury's for London tours, and was seen in a mock London livery, better described as NBC red and white. Oddly it was once since in this guise passing through Waddesdon. 123 and 127 survived in the fleet for many years, both acquiring the stripey livery adopted in later years. 127 even passed to Luton & District as a driver trainer and was expected to be ultimately preserved by them, until in its new duties it proved too much for one of the learners to handle and was damaged beyond repair.

Red Rover Waddesdon Five AEC Renowns joined the fleet in 1977 from Nottingham City Transport. One is seen here heading for Aylesbury at Waddesdon Cross Roads. Unfortunately though the Renown was developed as a non integral lowheight decker, which anyone could body (Weymann in this case), Nottingham chose to take advantage of the construction to fit full height bodies which were thus roomy and spacious, as well as being easy to board. It did mean that the Renowns could not make it to Bicester.

City of Nottingham DAU370C Seen at the 1999 Birmingham Outer Circle Run is preserved Nottingham 370 (DAU370C) from the same batch of Renowns as Red Rover's five.
