With many bus companies involved in the operation of trains these days, the government showed preference to renew franchises when train/bus connecting services were offered. With Virgin Trains half owned by Stagecoach, a connecting service from Milton Keynes to Luton Airport was started, using Berkhof bodied Volvos released from the Oxford Tube by the then new double deck MANs. The coach is seen at Luton Airport.

 |  A splash of yellow appeared on the Virgin Trains livery when the Berkhof coaches on the Milton Keynes - Luton link service were replaced by Plaxton bodied B10Ms which originated with Cumberland Motor Services. Volvo 52332 (6253VC) took the registration from one of the Berkhofs, it was originally N130VAO. It was also the coach to be shown at SHOWBUS international in 2003. The coach is seen here in December 2003 awaiting service for Luton outside Milton Keynes Railway Station. The Dunn-Line coach behind is one of many coaches at the Station at the time for Rail Replacement duties. |

|  The Virgin coaches were not the only smart coaches serving Milton Keynes Station in June 2009. Stagecoach had recently upgraded the Cambridge - Oxford X5 service with a fleet of brand new Volvo B9Rs with Plaxton Panther coachwork featuring air conditioning, power sockets, wifi and leather seating. Volvo 53612 (KX58NCE) is seen heading for Oxford. |
