 Seen at the 1976 National Showbus Rally at Hillingdon when new was WMPTE 4787, one of 100 Ailsa/Alexander doubledeckers purchased. Alongside, another Anglo-Swedish product, Scania/MCW MD30 of London Transport. The somewhat controversial products were bought when Leyland Bus was experiencing difficulty with doubledeck production and limiting customers to a restricted chassis range. |
Now preserved, this photo comes courtesy of its preservationists. 4653 (GOG653N) is one of a batch of 100 MCW bodied Bristol VRTSLs delivered to WMPTE in the early seventies. It was a time when a number
of PTEs took delivery of Bristol VRs without the customary ECW body found in NBC fleets.
