Nostalgia Travel Thames Valley Bristol Lodekka D39
It was a pleasure to catch up with two old friends yesterday in Beaconsfield. Conveying the guests to a wedding in Beaconsfield was former Thames Valley D39 (FJB739C) whose photo can be seen in our Thames Valley gallery. The bus used to be based at Maidenhead depot and I undoubtedly enjoyed the pleasure of conducting it when working there in the summer of 1973. Even better it was in the hands of Graham Norris, a former work colleague from Bucks County Council and Red Rover. Graham helped to teach me to drive a bus on one of Red Rover's ex Nottingham AEC Renowns. The ECW bodied Bristol FLF6G now belongs to The School Bus Company (Oxford), whose activities these days are more to do with the type of work on which D39 was engaged rather than school contracts.
We have thousands of pictures to choose from for our Picture of the Week but you are welcome to send in your own. If we do not feature it here, it may appear later in our picture gallery.
Ideally pictures should be 732 pixels wide and no more than 100kB.
