More typical of Southend's fleet is this Titan PD3
with Massey bodywork, built to a special height to fit under the lowbridge on Southend Sea Front - which is
precisely the bridge where this photo is viewed from. The Nottingham Olympians hopefully never
came near this obstruction during their short spell in Southend!

Southend Transport 323 (7087HJ) was another unusual purchase - a lowheight Albion Lowlander LR7 with Alexander
coachwork - again an easy fit under that bridge.

Another Southend Lowlander, but there could be a prize for guessing where it is and
what it is doing. It is 1973 and the bus is one of many from a variety of sources
helping out Alder Valley. AV was having an acute vehicle shortage and the Southend
Lowlanders joined London Country RTs and Royal Blue MWs amongst others. It is seen
here leaving Reading Bus Station.

Another view showing the Lowlander following Alder Valley/Thames Valley's only
Bristol MW6G with the final style of ECW body for that chassis. Hitherto in
Thames Valley's maroon and cream coaching livery 520ABL has been painted in NBC
dual purpose colours.

Southend Transport had few singledeckers in its fleet, and this is one of a pair of Leyland Leopard
PSU3s with Marshall bodywork - the more unusual for its dual door layout.
