The ill-fated Daimler Fleetline DMS buses of the early seventies, redeemed themselves when they escaped from the Capital and did many years service with operators the length of the county and beyond.
DMS at Showbus 80
Showbus was staged at the new Thorpe Park near Staines in 1980. A special feature celebrated the DMS revival as hoards of rejected London vehicles found grateful new owners the length of the country. Nearest the camera is Hedingham's DMS. Next is a mobile exhibition unit for Ciba-Geigy Agricultural. Two Oxford DMS follow, the second in Park & Ride livery. One of the two London DMS is actually owned by Ensignbus, who dealt with most DMS sales. Other examples in the line up include buses from Charlton-on-Otmoor Services, famous DMS user, Stevensons of Uttoxeter, Derby, London Country and Windsorian.

Ensignbus Leyland Fleetline MCW B217 DMS2000
Ensignbus not surprisingly used several DMS class vehicles on its own London tendered services. B217 (KJD500P) was originally MCW bodied DMS2000 and is seen on early Ensignbus tendered route 62.

Blue Triangle Daimler Fleetline DMS
Route 60 was not the greatest success in the early days of London route tendering. Incredibly, this DMS of Blue Triangle snook, out of service, to the Streatham terminus of route 60, which was then - as an interim measure - happily operating in the hands of Blue Triangle MCW Metrobuses.

Blue Triangle Daimler Fleetline DMS on route 60
The next moment the DMS is in service on the 60 in February 1999 while just up the road Arriva London was operating brand new low floor DAF doubledeckers! The 60 later received a long awaited fleet of low floor DAF/Plaxton President and Optare Spectras operated by Capital Logistics.
