Seen in 1972 when brand new at Alexander's factory in Falkirk is Leyland Atlantean 262 (VTP262L). Several Y-types for Alexander (Midland) with blue relief are also in view.

After the Alexander Atlanteans, Portsmouth bought a batch bodied by East Lancs. The box like appearance of 349 (CPO349W) is a sharp contrast to the curves of the Alexander bodies.

The earlier still MCW Atlanteans were treated to the new livery with more white which suited them better. It is seen here on 224 (224BTP).

Portsmouth were obviously keen on Atlanteans and was one of the few operators to take examples bodied as singledeckers. 188 (RTP188J) was the first of 12 all fitted with unusual Seddon Pennine dual door bodywork. It is seen at Southsea Pier.

Continuing with its unusal singledeck purchases, Portsmouth bought a batch of three Dannis Lancets, 95-97, locally bodied by Wadham Stringer. Seen at the Southsea Bus Rally is 95 (GTP95X) alongside a Bornemouth Marshall bodied Olympian. 95 differed from 96 and 97 by having dual purpose seating.
