Hants & Dorset bought two batches of coach seated Leyland Nationals, perhaps a way of avoiding the all-over red livery! From the first batch, 3638 (GLJ674N) is seen in Poole Bus Station.

Dual purpose singledeckers were a long term feature of the fleet for long distance routes. Now preserved this ECW bodied RELL6G, 1644 (UEL564J) is seen arriving at SHOWBUS international 2010.

Wilts & Dorset had several dual purpose vehicles too for longer distance routes like ECW bodied Brostol RELL6G 623 (XLJ728K) seen in Salisbury Bus Station still in Tilling red and cream, but with Hants & Dorset NBC fleetnames. It was later painted in poppy red and white DP livery and subsequently modelled by EFE when it was back as a Wilts & Dorset vehicle, still im poppy red DP livery.

Acquired a few months before 1644, 1634 (TRU216J) is seen in Poole Bus Station sporting NBC fleetnames on its Tilling green livery. Whilst Hants & Dorset liked coach seating for its longer routes, for urban routes it unusually specified dual door vehicles like this one.

Sister to preserved 1644, 1642 (UEL562J), is seen when it service at Southampton depot. Both buses went on to serve Independent of Horsforth.
