King Alfred Leyland Panther
In 1970 King Alfred splashed out on three new buses, all Leylands with Plaxton Derwent bodies. Unfortunately they were the less than reliable Panther rear engined model. Notwithstanding the last of the trio, UOU419H, has survived and made the journey to Scarborough in April 2007 for the
Plaxton Centennial Event.

King Alfred AEC Renown
In 1964 King Alfred bought two AEC Renown 3B2RA with Park Royal lowheight 73 seat bodies. These popular buses were icons of the fleet through into the final days of the company's independence, when it sold out to its long standing and much larger neighbour, Hants & Dorset. The buses donned NBC poppy red and ran alongside standard Bristols for several years. Both buses have been preserved by FOKAB and both have been modelled by EFE. 596LCG is seen at the Royal Victoria Rally in 2008.

The King Alfred fleet served the Winchester area for more than fifty years being unusual in that it was a privately owned company which ran a municipal service. The two tone green and cream buses have developed a strong following today and Exclusive First Editions are proud to present HAA809 on route 11 to Winchester, displaying adverts for Marston's Ale and Vernon's Pools.
