Redline Volvo B8RLE MCV EvoRa BV73MME
Thanks to Pete Brown for this week's picture of Redline MCV EvoRa bodied Volvo B8RLE BV73MME from the company's second batch of four such buses. The first four arrived late last year and have already been painted in Khan Red, but had yet to receive fleet insignia. The buses are primarily used on the X20 linking Aylesbury with Oxford and completing with Arriva's 280, which has been the 280 for around fifty years and before that was City of Oxford 80. In their wisdom Arriva has decided to renumber the decades old route the X7. Despite the X prefix, the route is still over 15 minutes slower than the X20. The Aylesbury too Wycombe and Milton Keynes services have also been given low number X prefixes, but with no obvious increase in journey times. They compete with Redline and Red Rose on both services with the latter's Milton Keynes 100 doing the run in under an hour whereas Arriva's MK route via Buckingham takes closer to two - but it now is the X6. Pete's photo was taken this week in Red Rose's Stone yard and despite the destination display is headed for the assocaited Redline fleet. The eight Volvos replace all eight Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC buses acquired by the group. These were early MMC models acquired from Whitelaw of Stonehouse which had questionable reliability and have been disposed of. Whilst all eight Volvos go to Redline Red Rose's Enviros will be replaced with standard Enviro200 buses transferred across.
